What is Memory Mapper?
Memory Mapper lets you build a personal, location-based memory gift for someone you love. You pick a region of the world, drop pins on the places that matter, and attach a title, notes and photos to each one. When it’s ready you share a private link so they can explore the map in any browser.
Does it work as an anniversary gift?
That’s what most maps get made for. Rather than one photo or one place, you give the whole story — the restaurant from the first date, the street you lived on, the trip you still talk about — each with its own photos and the note behind it. It arrives as a private link, so there’s nothing to post and nothing to wrap, and you can keep adding to it long after the day itself.
Can I make one for someone far away?
Yes, and it’s one of the more common reasons people make them. The finished map is only a link and a password, so distance makes no difference: pin their city, pin yours, and pin the places you’re planning to get to together. They open it in a browser wherever they are — no account, nothing to install, no postage.
How do I create a map?
Sign in with your Google account, then open your Dashboard and choose Create new map. Pick the region of the world you want to focus on, and you’ll land in the map editor ready to start dropping pins.
How do I add memories and photos to a pin?
In the map editor, click anywhere on the map to drop a pin and open its memory. Give it a title, write your notes, and upload one or more photos. Your work saves as you go, and you can move a pin or edit its memory whenever you like.
How do I share my map with someone?
Open the map and click the share icon in the toolbar (labelled Export map until you’ve shared it once), then Generate link. Memory Mapper creates a private link and a password — send both to the recipient. They open the link in any browser, enter the password, and explore your map. No account needed.
How do I preview a map I've created?
To see exactly what the recipient will see:
- Open your map and click the share icon in the toolbar, then choose Generate link (if you haven’t already). This gives you a share link and a password.
- Copy the link and open it — ideally in a private/incognito window or a different browser, so you’re viewing it as a visitor rather than as the signed-in owner.
- Enter the password shown in the Share dialog when the map asks for it.
- You’ll now see the read-only recipient view: your pins, memories and photos exactly as your recipient will experience them.
Spotted something to change? Just edit the map in the normal editor — your changes appear on the share link straight away, so you can refresh the preview and check again.
Does the recipient need an account?
No. The person you share with just needs the link and the password. They open it in any browser and explore the map read-only — there’s nothing to install and no sign-up.
Can I edit a map after I've shared it?
Yes. Keep editing memories, photos and pin positions whenever you like — your changes appear live on the share link, so anyone you’ve shared with always sees the latest version.
How do I change or reset the share password?
Open the Share dialog and choose Regenerate password. This sets a brand-new password and signs out anyone who had already opened the link, so you’ll need to send them the new one. The link itself stays the same.
Can I stop a share link from working?
Yes — two ways, both in the Share dialog. Unexport turns the link off entirely (you can export again later), or set a link expiry date after which the link stops working automatically.
How much does Memory Mapper cost?
Memory Mapper is free to use, and you can keep up to three free maps at a time. If you want more memories, photos or storage on a particular map, you can upgrade that individual map to Pro or Max for a one-off price — there’s no subscription. See the Pricing page for what each tier includes.
How long is my map kept?
Your maps stay as long as they’re being used. If a map goes a long time with no activity it’s eventually removed to free up space — after 3 months on Free, 1 year on Pro, or 5 years on Max. We’ll email you well before that happens, so an active map is never at risk.
How do I delete a map, my account, or my data?
To remove a single map, use the delete button on that map’s card in your Dashboard. To remove everything, go to Account → Danger zone and delete your account — this permanently deletes your account and every map, memory and photo you own. Neither can be undone.
