A Mother's or Father's Day gift made from the places you've shared
Parents are hard to buy for and easy to map. Most of what you have with your mum or dad happened somewhere specific — the park they walked you round when you had too much energy for the house, the market on a Saturday morning, the same stretch of motorway every August — and none of it is on a shelf. Pin those places, put the photos with them, and write down what actually happened rather than the tidy version. What they get is a private link that opens on their phone, with nothing to install and no account to make, and it quietly grows every time something else comes back to you.

What to put on a map for your mum or dad
I know you appreciate your parents and all the memories you've made together. But do they know you appreciate them? Show them.
- The place they always took you
- The park, the pool, the walk round the block when you had too much energy for the house. Usually the earliest pin on the map, and the one they'll open first.
- The weekly ritual
- The market on a Saturday, the ground every weekend, the drive they did without ever being thanked for it. A pin like this lands harder than the big occasions, because it tells them you noticed.
- Where they taught you something
- The path where they let go of the bike, the car park where you learned to drive, the riverbank with a borrowed rod. Write the version where you were difficult about it — that's the one they'll recognise.
- Where you told them the hard thing
- The walk you went on because it was easier than sitting across a table from them. They'll remember the conversation; they won't know you kept the place.
- The life they had before you
- Their street, their first job, the year you know nothing about. If you don't know, ask them — the asking is a decent present on its own.
- The thing you've never said
- The time they turned up when you couldn't bring yourself to ask, or the advice you only took years later. They almost certainly don't know, and it's the pin worth taking your time over.

Tell them the parts they don't know.
They were there for all of it, but not for what you made of it. Start with the places you remember, ask them about the rest, and send the link on the day.
